Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

This policy explains how Klara Legal (“we”, “us”) handles personal data when you visit our marketing website at klaralegal.com (the “Website”) or use our application at platform.klaralegal.com (the “Platform”) — together, the “Services”. Account creation, sign-in, and waitlist data on the Platform are additionally subject to Clerk’s privacy policy, since Clerk processes that data as our processor.

Who is responsible?

Klara Legal is the data controller for personal data collected through the Services. We process personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (“GDPR”) and applicable Belgian data protection law (including the Law of 30 July 2018 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data).

For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, use the contact form on our homepage.

What data do we collect?

We collect only what you choose to give us:

  • Contact form: name, email address, phone number, optional company name, and your message.
  • Technical data: basic server or CDN logs (such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited) may be recorded by our hosting provider for security and operations.
  • Analytics: we use Umami, a self-hosted, cookieless analytics tool running on our own infrastructure, on both the Website and the Platform, to understand aggregate visit statistics (such as page views and referrers). Umami does not use cookies, does not store your IP address, and does not track you across other websites. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party advertising trackers on the Services.

Why we use your data

  • To read and respond to enquiries you send through the contact form.
  • To follow up about early access, demos, or waitlist requests where relevant.
  • To keep the Services secure and functioning.

Our legal bases under the GDPR are legitimate interests (handling business enquiries and operating the Services) and, where applicable, consent when you submit the contact form.

How form submissions are processed

When you submit the contact form, your data is sent to Web3Forms, a third-party form delivery service, which forwards the submission to our team by email. Web3Forms acts as a data processor on our behalf. Their handling of data is described in the Web3Forms privacy policy.

Please do not include sensitive personal data (such as health information or full contract text with third-party personal data) in your message unless necessary for your enquiry.

Waitlist and platform

If you click Join waitlist, you leave the Website and go to the Platform at platform.klaralegal.com. Sign-up, sign-in, and waitlist flows there are provided by Clerk and are subject to Clerk’s privacy policy in addition to this policy. We do not receive waitlist data through the marketing contact form.

How long we keep data

  • Contact form enquiries: up to 24 months after our last meaningful exchange, unless a longer period is needed for legal or regulatory reasons.
  • Server logs: typically up to 90 days, depending on our host’s configuration.

Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with:

  • Web3Forms — to deliver contact form submissions.
  • Hosting and infrastructure providers — to serve the Services.
  • Clerk — to provide account, sign-in, and waitlist functionality on the Platform.
  • Professional advisers — where required by law or to protect our rights.

Some providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where that applies, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms offered by the provider.

Your rights

If you are in the EEA, UK, or another region with similar laws, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request erasure in certain circumstances
  • Restrict or object to processing
  • Data portability, where applicable
  • Withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior processing)
  • Lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit / Autorité de protection des données), our lead supervisory authority as a Belgian company, or with your local supervisory authority in the EEA or UK where applicable

To exercise these rights, contact us via the contact form.

Security

We use HTTPS on the Services and work with reputable providers. No transmission over the internet is completely secure; please use the contact form only for information you are comfortable sharing.

Children

The Services are aimed at business users. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.

Applicable law

This privacy policy and any dispute relating to personal data collected through the Services are governed by Belgian law, without prejudice to mandatory protections available to you under the GDPR or the law of your country of habitual residence.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Material changes may also be noted on the homepage.
